Configure Claude Coworks
Claude Coworks is the task-oriented experience in Anthropic's desktop client. Follow the client workflow below to connect third-party inference and use LAYSO AI models.
One key for every platform model
LAYSO AI bills at the selected model's current price. Every successful request has an itemized charge; failed tasks are not charged.
Prerequisites
- Install Claude Desktop ↗.
- Get an API key from the LAYSO AI website ↗.
- Copy the exact model ID you need from the LAYSO AI model catalog.
Client version requirement
This guide requires a Claude Desktop version that includes Developer → Configure Third-Party Inference. If the option is missing, update the client or use Claude Code CLI instead.
Configuration
Step 1: Enable Developer Mode
Open the Claude Desktop menu and choose Help → Troubleshooting → Enable Developer Mode.
Step 2: Open third-party inference settings
Open the menu again and choose Developer → Configure Third-Party Inference.
Step 3: Configure Gateway
Choose Gateway (Anthropic compatible) instead of the standard Claude account sign-in flow. Then use the values below. The LAYSO AI Claude endpoint is the root domain—do not append /anthropic or /v1.

Select Apply locally and continue after the connection indicator turns green.
Step 4: Browse and select a model
Open the model picker and choose the model for your task. If manual input is required, paste the exact model ID shown in the LAYSO AI catalog.
Step 5: Verify and start working
Send a short test task. After it succeeds, verify the model, token use, and itemized charge in LAYSO AI task details.
Troubleshooting
The Developer menu is missing
Update and restart Claude Desktop. If third-party inference is still unavailable, the current release does not support this setup.
Apply locally does not turn green
Confirm the Base URL is exactly https://api.layso.ai, then check the API key for spaces, line breaks, or missing characters.
The model list is empty
Apply the configuration again and restart the client. Also confirm that the network can reach LAYSO AI and the API key remains valid.
Billing and security
- One LAYSO AI API key can access all platform models.
- Every successful request has an itemized charge; failed tasks are not charged.
- Never expose a full API key in screenshots, logs, examples, or Git repositories.
