Configure Codex CLI
Codex CLI ↗ is OpenAI's command-line coding agent. With LAYSO AI, one API key connects Codex to platform models through a custom provider compatible with the Responses API.
Why use LAYSO AI?
- One key — Avoid maintaining separate credentials for different models.
- One model entry point — Switch between LAYSO AI platform models in the same Codex configuration.
- Responses compatibility — Uses the request protocol currently supported by Codex custom model providers.
- Clear billing — Every successful request has an itemized charge; failed tasks are not charged.
Configuration principle
Codex custom model providers use the responses wire API. Store the provider in the user-level ~/.codex/config.toml file and load the API key from an environment variable.
